The route from the table to freedom
Roll the movement die in the game room, complete the event, and return required idols to the board to unlock further movement rolls. For the Early Access escape, reach the board’s center, recover the Gamemaster’s Soul idol, return it to the board, seal it, and say “Invokyr” into your microphone.
Choose your session and prepare to communicate
Invokyr supports Windows on Steam and can be played solo or in online co-op with up to 6 players. Early Access offers public lobbies and Steam invites, so choose the route that suits your group. If public hosting gives you trouble, try Steam invites.
Prepare your microphone before the spoken ending so you can concentrate on the final objective when it arrives. Enable subtitles if you struggle to follow the Gamemaster, and consider disabling camera shake for steadier movement. Agree on simple room descriptions and a rally point near the table before anyone explores.
Start the run and repeat the board loop
- Start your run through the hosting or save-selection flow. When hosting a fresh run, choose New Save. Check that you have selected the intended run before committing your group to it.
- Learn the game room before exploring farther. The table is where your expeditions begin and end, so pay attention to its doorways and nearby landmarks. Your immediate goal is to recognize the return route without relying on a teammate to lead you.
- Bring a discovered die back to the table. Keep your opening search short enough that you can remember the route home. Finding a die and returning with it gives you a useful practice trip before you commit to deeper exploration.
- Roll the movement die in the game room to advance the shared board token. Each roll changes the house or triggers a challenge, so watch what happens before deciding your next move. Keep the distinction between board progress and special-die effects clear.
- Complete the event produced by the roll. The task may involve collecting idols throughout the manor or surviving a game event. Follow that objective rather than continuing an unrelated search while the group needs help.
- Return the required idols to the board. Their return unlocks further movement rolls, so finding an idol is only part of the job. Check that the team has recovered its required idols before trying to advance again.
- Repeat the movement-roll and event cycle from the game room. Regroup after events so the group can review its dice reserve and next objective. In the Early Access ending, reaching the board’s center begins the final trial rather than immediately completing the escape.
Complete the Early Access final trial
- Recover the Gamemaster’s Soul idol after the board’s center sends you into the manor. This is the objective of the final trial. Keep the group focused on recovering it instead of drifting into another ordinary dice hunt.
- Carry the Soul idol back to the game board. Give the carrier an escort and favor rooms whose routes you already know. Reaching the game room with the objective prepares you for the sealing action.
- Seal the Soul idol into the board. Treat sealing as a separate objective after the return trip. Simply carrying the idol into the room does not complete the listed ending sequence.
- Say “Invokyr” into your microphone after sealing the idol. This spoken action completes the Early Access ending sequence. Keep the order clear: the microphone trigger follows the idol’s return and sealing.
Use the ending instructions for your version
The earlier demo ending requires bringing the board game into the final room. The Early Access sequence instead calls for returning the Gamemaster’s Soul idol to the board, sealing it, and speaking the game’s name. Follow the sequence for the version you are playing; carrying the board into the demo’s final room and sealing the Soul idol in Early Access are different instructions.
Protect your dice and recover dropped idols
Roll essential board dice low and centered rather than throwing them toward furniture or inaccessible areas. Losing essential dice can leave a run stuck, so careful handling matters before an event even begins. If a die lands on a shelf, check for a reachable route before abandoning it.
Keep a dice reserve instead of spending everything as soon as it appears. Dice found around the house are single-use, and special dice can carry risks as well as useful effects. Save healing, hiding, or hindering options for situations where their effects help the group.
If an idol carrier dies, the idol drops where they fell. Recover the dropped objective and bring it back through familiar rooms, with an escort where possible. Dead teammates can still communicate, so keep using their callouts. A full party wipe during a board can cost the run’s saved progression.
Find help for the obstacle blocking your return
Creatures have different hunting behaviors, so adapt your response to the threat. On Icy Mountain, the Yeti can clip through closet doors; do not rely on a closed closet to protect an idol carrier.
