Recognize the threat beneath the floor

The Sandworm is announced by a rhyme about noisy footsteps and danger underground; ground rumbling warns that it is about to lunge upward through the floor. Avoid sprinting and unnecessary loud noise while it is present, and make responding to the rumble your immediate priority.

02

What the event message tells you

The rhyme announces the Sandworm's arrival as a monster-spawn event. Once present, it moves beneath the floor and reacts to running or loud noises. Treat the announcement as your reminder to change your habits immediately, rather than waiting until you can see the creature.

The ground rumble is the warning of an approaching attack. It comes before the Sandworm lunges upward, so listen for it while deciding your next move. If you are concentrating on an objective, let that warning interrupt your task.

03

Respond to the Sandworm step by step

  1. Stop sprinting when the Sandworm event is announced. This avoids a movement behavior that attracts its attention.
  2. Reduce unnecessary loud noise while continuing your task. This follows the Sandworm's noise-sensitive hunting behavior.
  3. Listen for ground rumbling. Recognizing that cue gives you warning before the Sandworm lunges upward.
  4. Try repositioning when the rumbling begins. Give yourself a chance to avoid the attack instead of staying put to finish an interaction.
  5. Maintain your quieter approach after an attack. The Steam player strategy guide describes the event as persisting for the remainder of the game.
04

Choose quieter movement toward your objective

Sprinting toward your objective faster conflicts with the Sandworm's tracking behavior: running is something it reacts to. Favor deliberate movement and avoid unnecessary noise when you have room to choose your pace. Think of this as reducing what attracts it, rather than gaining immunity through a particular movement speed.

05

Damage, event duration and recovery

The Steam player strategy guide lists a Sandworm attack at 70 damage and describes its spawn event as lasting for the remainder of the game. Plan around that continuing threat rather than expecting an attack to end the encounter. After surviving a lunge, keep the same precautions against sprinting and loud noise.
