Reach the safe and open the corridor
Reaching the attic safe involves careful platforming through the main game room into a secret space above the ceiling. Take your time on the climb and check where you want to land before attempting a jump. Inside the hidden room, look for the drawers and newspaper clipping to work through the puzzle.
- Go to the main game room, the starting point for the climb to the hidden attic space.
- Climb upward through the game room using careful platforming to reach the secret space above the ceiling.
- Search the drawers in the hidden room to find the newspaper clipping about the family fire.
- Read the clipping's September 13, 1987 date to identify the date behind the safe combination.
- Enter 091387 into the attic safe, preserving the leading zero, to unlock it.
- Collect the Corridor Key from the opened safe so you can unlock the corridor entrance.
- Return to the locked door opposite the shop, where you can use the Corridor Key.
- Use the Corridor Key on that door to open the way into the corridor.
- Enter the corridor to confirm access to the area containing Henry's locked bedroom.
How the date clues give you the combination
The newspaper clipping describes a family fire on September 13, 1987. The paper's date clue is 09.13, while the book titled "Class of '87: A New Beginning" points to the year. Read the month and day first, then append the shortened year to form 091387. Keep that order and the opening zero when entering the combination.
Check the safe, your entry and the destination door
If the safe stays closed, compare your entry with 091387 and check that you included the first zero. Make sure you are at the safe in the hidden room above the main game room. The dining-room safe is a separate puzzle with a different combination.
After collecting the Corridor Key, head to the locked door opposite the shop. Being able to walk into that corridor is your success check for the safe reward. Henry's bedroom needs Henry's Room Key, so finding its door still locked does not mean you used the safe reward incorrectly. Open the corridor door in the same save before moving on to the separate bedroom-key search.
